Central Vermont Homes for Sale 1

Central Vermont is a signature New England landscape characterized by scenic rolling hills dotted with working farms, homesteads and classic general stores on town greens with church steeples. It comprises all of Washington County and a portion of Orange County and includes Vermont’s capital city of Montpelier as well as the villages and towns scattered among the hills,  with the ski towns of Stowe, Warren and Waitsfield the best known outside the region. The nation’s smallest capital city, Montpelier boasts a lively and historic downtown district offering a wide variety of specialty shops and stores and active performing arts. It is also home to the New England Culinary Institute, and its very popular restaurant. Other notable towns include Plainfield, the home of Goddard College, Hardwick, an important hub for Vermont’s growing Locavore movement, and Groton, home to Kettle Pond State Park and the 26,000-acre Groton State Forest. Some of the finest mountain resorts in the Northeast can be found within a 45 mile radius with Stowe Mountain Resort 45 miles to the northwest and Burke Mountain 35 miles to the northeast. The Burlington International Airport is 73 miles, Boston is just under 200 miles, and Montreal is 150 miles.
